The Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association “SEFA” is an international trade association comprised of representatives of the various disciplines involved in the laboratory furniture and equipment industry. SEFA’s founding vision, which has never wavered over its 22 year history, is to promote safe laboratory facilities. What has changed over the course of SEFA’s history is the depth and diversity of our membership who strive to fulfill that promise. As you can see from our membership roster, SEFA’s members consist of the leading manufacturers of laboratory fume hoods, casework, fixtures and tops, as well as lab planners, architects and dealers throughout the world.  

In 2006, in order to better serve the unique challenges of emerging markets, SEFA formed the SEFA-Asia Committee. This Committee, currently chaired by Allen Mao (Ultra Labs) has elected to rename itself “SEFA International” in order to better serve and recognize the needs of all SEFA international members. 

On September 24, 2008 SEFA hosted its first international event in Shanghai, China, in conjunction with analytica-China.  The reception was attended by international members of our Association as well as potential new members.  It provided us with a wonderful opportunity to better-educate the attendees about SEFA's purpose and mission for the industry -- The  improvement of the lab industry throughout the world, by instilling guidelines and best practices in keeping with our primary goal of developing and producing safe and functional laboratory grade furniture and equipment.   

This year we selected Dubai, U.A.E., as the venue for our international event.  On January 11, 2010, SEFA hosted a Reception in connection with the Arablab Trade Show.  The event was well-attended by more than 90 high-level representatives of some of the most prestigous firms in our industry.
